As you can see the Galaxy Nexus trumphs the Droid Razr in almost every category, the Droid Razr still on the old Android Gingerbread while the Galaxy Nexus is on the new Ice Cream Sandwich. The Galaxy Nexus also has a newer processor in the OMAP 4460 while the Razr has the old version. But the Razr does beat the Galaxy Nexus in camera.

By that token, every cell phone today has a better camera than Nikon’s professional grade SLR cameras just last generation which had as little as 4 megapixels. Those cost $5000 and have a resume of millions of professional photos taken. Megapixels are irrelevant after a certain size unless you’re blowing it up to wallpaper size. The zero shutter-lag alone indicates an extreme likelihood that Samsung has the better camera here.

Ohhh but nooo it has a bigger number so it must be better! I won’t even pretend to know what an f-stop is!

Why can’t tech blogs ever have knowledgeable tech editors…

    Nice Streeter,
So true. People just don’t understand cameras correctly, and its because of the way they are marketed. I work in an electronics department, and everybody that comes in to buy cameras, always compairs megapixels. We have a ton of point-and-shoot 14 – 16 megapixels. And then we have three DSLRs. Everyone complains “oh those big ones are worse than these ltitle ones, why are they so much money”.

Then, I always make them look stupid. Talking about F-stop, shutter speed, Aperature, manual focus, changable lenses. And then they almost always shut up.

The camera senser and the lens really determin the image quality.

I try to explain to every single customer that Megapixels is just the size of the image physically. You could have a 21 Megapixel camera, that takes garbage pictures.

People need to understand that megapixels means nothing, unless you plan on printing large images.

With that said, the galaxy nexus is suppose to have an amazing camera. And its gonna beat the Droid razr.

    Very good point!

First off, I second Streeters point. Building on that, why on earth would I want to buy a droid razr when Motorola just demonstrated exactly how much they value their customers by SHAFTING everyone who bought a droid bionic by marketing it as the best for eight months, then finally release it, and present a superior product 6 weeks later ready for IMMEDIATE RELEASE – just outside of the time frame bionic buyers would be able to return their phones, no less.

Fuck Moto. Fuck their clunky UIs, low quality displays, and shitty business practices. Fuck their stupid insider relationship with Verizon that hinders the release of far-superior Samsung products like the nexus, and killed Verizon planholders’ chances of getting the GSII. I’m never buying a motorola product. They can eat shit and die.

  5. TechRock says:

Hey Fishy Every thing here seems fishy about you with your language.

For your instance the Moto(you are abusing) is now owned by google ,so with all that crap language technically you are abusing Google :P

I dont get it! i have seen it on every website,no one in these comments own Google,Samsung & Motorola we are customers so its not about sides,we are just looking for better

Galaxy Nexus is a great Device(and the camera! samsung has always been good at it)

But Droid razr its a huge step too,i have always been supporting Galaxy Line phones but now sAMOLED on Motorola Device and improved picture and video quality then on older motorola device’s its a lot of improvement

there is still more to come in this battle along with

Galaxy Nexus – Droid Razr – Galaxy Note etc

    upcoming Quadcore’s

The Samsungs Galaxy S line third device still on way

Which One is Right For You?

    Time has that answer

Not really. When you have a puny amount of megapixels (e.g., 5) a few more does matter. Same with the front camera. There was a comparison I saw today of pictures taken with the Nexus vs. the Galaxy S2 (8 mp). The S2′s were obviously much clearer/sharper. The Rezound has a better camera and lens, and sound system, and maybe display. If it weren’t for ICS and the fact that Google keeps the OS on its phones up to date, I’d be buying the Rezound.
