We have read a couple of reports today suggesting that the newest Android update for the GSM Galaxy Nexus is causing issues with location services that use the device GPS. The version of Android Jelly bean causing the issue is 4.1.1.

Admittedly, we could not duplicate the issue. That said, if you are having the problem apparently it is easy to fix. Go into Settings > Location Services and disable your GPS as well as your Location and Google settings. Once done simply re-enable them.

Let us know if it works!

Does not look like you will have to wait long for the newest version of Ice Cream Sandiwch to make it to your Glaxy Nexus! All reports point to a mid-July release for the software update, which boasts some impressive improvements, including:

* Project Butter: A huge jump in frame rate (60fps), along with touch responsiveness improvements, and processor/GUI work transfer improvements will make for a much smoother and functional experience.

* Camera: The new camera app allows you to easily access already taken pictures and undo accidental deletes.

* Google Now: Think of it as a psychic Siri. Essentially it will use your ever day usage in primary Android and Google apps to help you with your everyday usage. Not for the privacy fanatics, it does require usage gathering in your major apps, which will be be sent back to Google.

For a full breakdown of all of Jelly Bean’s features, stop by the Android Developer page.

If we haven’t justified it enough already, here is your newest excuse to pull the trigger and get yourself a shiny new Galaxy Nexus. It looks like both Sprint and Verizon are offering the first Ice Cream Sandwich device at the very reasonable price of $49 if you sign up for the usual two year term.

No doubt this is to aggressively move the device before the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S 3 before the summer. Regardless of the reason, at this price point, we highly suggest you join the Nexus revolution and capitalize on the great price.

The Galaxy S III may very well be the most hyped phone since the Galaxy Nexus, which we suppose is a win-win for Samsung, and Android really. But with the Galaxy S III expected to launch in the summer in North America, should you be waiting for it, or taking the plunge with our favorite Nexus device instead? Hopefully a little specs comparison will help you decide exactly that.

***What they have in common***

- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
- Super HD AMOLED Screens
- HSPA+ and LTE variants
- Both phones have NFC functionality
- Both have multiple internal storage options

***Where they differ***

- Samsung Galaxy S III boasts a quad core processor; Galaxy Nexus has a dual core
- Galaxy Nexus offers a pure Android install and quicker Android updates straight from Google; Galaxy S III offers new touchwiz interface and exclusive software like S-Voice and S-Beam.
- Galaxy S III offers twice as much RAM at 2GB
- Galaxy Nexus has a 5MP camera while the Galaxy S III offers a 12MP camera
- Galaxy S III offers microSD storage; Galaxy Nexus has internal storage only

At the end of the day, which phone is better suited to you? Discuss in our Galaxy Nexus Forum.

If you were one of the people who did cartwheels at the idea of getting onto Sprints LTE network with one of those shiny new LTE Galaxy Nexus, then you may have also been one of the users who were not able to connect to the Sprint Data Network once you activated your new smartphone.

Sprint starting rolling out a software update to resolve the issue yesterday, which you can connect to a WiFi network to download. Alternatively, starting May 17th, you can go into a retail store to get your device updated, though we have a hard time believing an affected user is going to wait any longer than they must to get a data connection on their phone.

Confirmed 2: Pictures of internal Sprint documents have leaked indicating that the Sprint launch of the 16GB Galaxy Nexus will be April 22nd, 2012 for $199.99. Sprint plans to launch the LG Viper 4G LTE the same day.

UPDATED: Sprint will get 32GB, LTE variant of Galaxy Nexus. The device will also support Google Wallet, a feature missing from the Verizon version of the phone. Rumored price point is $299.99 on a 3 year contract.

Yesterday multiple sources reported that Sprint was advertising that their first superphone on their upcoming LTE network would be the Galaxy Nexus. The advertisement was quickly taken off the Internet, leading us to wonder whether it was legit or a mistake. As Sprint is not expected to roll out their LTE network until the beginning of Q3, it would be a long wait for the Ice Cream Sandwich device.

This is not the first instance we have seen in North America of providers waiting to launch the current “best Android phone” in conjunction with their upcoming LTE launches. In Canada we saw Bell Mobility come out the gate strong with exclusive right to the Galaxy S II, while Rogers did not start selling the LTE variant of the device until months later when their network launched in Toronto and Ottawa.

Reports are trickling in to Google Support that Galaxy Nexus users who upgraded to the most recent version of Android ICS are experiencing unexpected signal strength issues, causing them not to be able to text message or send/receive calls. While there has been speculation that the issue has to do with how 4.0.4 enters sleep mode, there has been no official cause analysis or resolution at this time.

Android ICS 4.0.4 was made available for the GSM variant of the Galaxy Nexus only, so if you are a Verizon LTE Galaxy Nexus user, it is business as usual for now.

If you were an early adopter of ICS via a Galaxy Nexus purchase, or a ported version running on your existing smartphone, you know that the newest version of Android has its fair share of bugs.

It looks like Google is planning on fixing some of the outstanding bugs related to data usage, with the release of 4.0.5. We had previously reported that 4.0.4 would be released for the Verizon variant of the phone at the beginning of the year, but it appears that it is being skipped for a newer version that fixes more commonly reported bugs.

There are not a lot of specifics being reported outside of an early April launch, but we will keep you updated on the exact launch date.

UPDATE: Looks like 4.0.4 is going to make it out after all, as it has already begun to roll out to the HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus and the GSM Nexus S, as reported by Android Fans. With no mention of the LTE Galaxy Nexus getting updated, we have to assume for the time being that it will be updated in 4.0.5.

Looks like Google will be jumping into LTE in 2012 with more than just the Galaxy Nexus. Sprint’s official blog announcement from a couple of weeks ago indicates that they will go to launch with the Galaxy Nexus, LG Viper, and the Sierra Hotspot device.

A point of interest regarding the LG Viper is that it is running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and not Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Long story short, if you are going to be one of the early LTE adopters for Sprint (their network is set to launch in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio), you have Android choices a plenty.

UPDATE: Numerous sources are now reporting that the Galaxy Nexus will be launching on Sprint April 15th, 2012.
