You may not have needed a report to confirm it, but a recently published Consumer Smart Phone report from ChangeWave Research (http://www.changewaveresearch.com) suggests that Apple and Samsung will continue to be the leading smartphone manufacturers in 2012.
While the iPhone and ecosystem Apple have built around it seems like it would be a sure thing to see continued growth, it is important to note that the media had treated the iPhone 4S as a lack luster product offering. Consumers seemed to disagree, and Apple stock hit an all time high last week as a result.
Samsung has been aggressively selling Android based devices, with the incredibly successful Galaxy S II flying off store shelves worldwide, and a successful launch of the Galaxy Nexus in Q4 2011. With the upcoming launch of the Galaxy Note in North America, a smartphone/tablet hybrid, Samsung’s market reach will only gain traction. Currently Samsung accounts for about 55% of all activated Android devices.
